Travel responsibly—on every single tour

See the world. Make it better.

Whether you go to Sicily solo or on a family trip to Kenya, when you travel with us, you’ll make a positive impact on the places you visit, and the people and animals you meet along the way. That’s because our three core Responsible Travel commitments—protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and promoting animal welfare—are at the heart of every tour we offer. Here’s how we bring those commitments to life on tour, and beyond.

Protecting the environment

With future generations in mind, we’ve adopted sustainable practices, in our offices and on the road with you, with the goal of reducing our carbon footprint and taking positive climate action wherever we can.

Since 2021, we’ve planted a total of nine million trees in Kenya, Madagascar, and Mozambique with Eden Reforestation Projects. Beginning in 2024, we partnered with WeForest to regenerate 1,500 hectares (around 2,100 football fields) of land in Tanzania.

We have also been working with myclimate to calculate EF’s total global carbon emissions and will refocus our efforts on carbon reduction initiatives in order to align with environmental best practices.

On tour, we’ll get you out in nature and learning about traditional land use, conservation efforts, the protection of iconic sites, and more.

Supporting local communities

For us, traveling has always been about more than seeing places at their surface level. It’s about lifting up local economies, creating social opportunities, and preserving global cultures. Ways we do this on tour include dining at independently owned restaurants, partnering with organizations that preserve cultural heritage, and supporting businesses that employ local artisans and other staff members.

Promoting animal welfare

We’re firm believers that experiencing a destination should never come at an animal’s expense. Our in-house team of animal lovers, covering all products in the EF portfolio, carefully vet every experience on tour on a regular basis. We’re committed to preserving the health, safety, and dignity of all animals, from giant African elephants to tiny sea turtle hatchlings.

We also look to various organizations that work with animal protection–organizations like World Animal Protection, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and the Global Federation for Animal Sanctuaries. Their commitment and years of expertise guides us on ensuring that none of our tour experiences exploit animals or threaten their well-being.

Our impact site

At EF, everything we do ripples outwards, transforming people, communities, and ultimately, the planet. Our impact defines who we are as a company and how we contribute to a better world; one tour, one initiative, one story at a time.
